1     Thomas Jefferson was the third president. He was president from 1801 to 1809. He was born in Virginia. He was born in 1743. Thomas had many skills. He was a lawyer. He was an architect. He was an inventor. He was also a scholar. This was because he read many books in his life. He believed in liberty. Thomas thought the colonies should be free. He wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence. He also held many jobs in the government. He was the Secretary of State. This was under George Washington. He was the vice president under John Adams. Thomas had to make big decisions as president. One was the Louisiana Purchase. He bought this land from France. This doubled .....
