1     Minerals are elements that help your body work properly. Calcium and phosphorus are two elements needed by your body. These two elements strengthen your bones. They keep muscles healthy. They help your heart beat regularly. Several minerals allow the body to use the other types of nutrients. Iron, zinc, and iodine are some more minerals needed by the body. Minerals are found in many foods. They include milk, meats, dried beans, vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain cereals. The most important time in your life to eat foods high in calcium is between the ages of nine and eighteen. During these years, more than one-third of your bone mass is laid down. Calcium is stored in the bones in your body. Later in your life, if you do not get enough calcium every day, your body will take calcium from your bones .....
