2     Fats are another source of energy. Your body depends on fat cells for energy storage. Fat cells also protect your body against temperature changes. Fats insulate the body from too much heat or cold. Fats also carry certain vitamins in your bloodstream. Vitamins A, E, D, and K are called fat-soluble. They help keep you healthy. Yet eating too much fat will cause weight gain. This may lead to other health problems. Sources of fats are butter, eggs, red meat, and many cheeses.
