2     Inventions can change our world in dramatic ways. Think how different our lives would be without the telephone, electricity, computers, or the Internet! In 2009, Jon Bohmer won $75,000 (£50,000) for his invention. Bohmer's invention, called the Kyoto box, can use free energy from the sun to cook food. It can be used to purify water for safe drinking. It will save trees. It will prevent more greenhouse gases being added to the atmosphere. It can even help people keep safe.
