1 Only one president has served two terms not in a row. His name was Grover Cleveland. He was the twenty-second president. He was also the twenty-fourth president. Cleveland was born in New Jersey in 1837. He had excellent focus. He could focus all of his energy on one task. In three short years, Cleveland became very well known in politics. He was elected mayor of Buffalo, New York. Then he was elected governor of New York. He was elected president in 1884. He worked on reform. The word "reform" means to improve. He wanted to reform politics. He wanted to bring honor back to government. Cleveland was the first to do many things. He was the only president married in the White House. He married Frances Folsom.
