1     William Taft was the twenty-seventh president. He was born in 1857. He went to school at Yale. He became a lawyer. Taft was given jobs in the judicial branch of the government by Republicans. He became a Federal circuit judge when he was 34. Taft liked law better than politics. He wanted to be on the Supreme Court. Roosevelt appointed Taft to a job when he was president. Taft was the Secretary of War. Roosevelt also thought Taft should be the next president. Taft didn't like the campaign. He won the election anyway. Taft was the first president to throw out the first pitch to start the season in a major league baseball game. He was also the first .....
