1     Woodrow Wilson was the twenty-eighth president. He was born in Virginia in 1856. He graduated from Princeton. He went to law school. He earned his doctorate degree. Wilson became a professor at Princeton. In 1902, he became president of Princeton. He was elected governor of New Jersey eight years later. In 1912, he was the Democratic candidate for president. There were three major candidates. Wilson won forty-two percent of the popular vote. He won in the Electoral College. Many things happened during Wilson's two terms. In 1917, the country entered World War I. Wilson told citizens it was to make the world safe for democracy. Child labor laws were passed. Laws were passed to make eight hour work days for railroad workers. Prohibition began. This made it illegal to buy or sell alcohol in the United States. Women gained the right .....
