1     Calvin Coolidge was the thirtieth president. He was born in Vermont in 1872. His father owned a store in town. Coolidge went to Amherst College. He slowly got involved in law and politics. He was elected governor of Massachusetts. In 1921, he was elected vice president. The president at the time was Warren Harding. Harding died in 1923. He was on a trip to California. Coolidge was sworn in as president. His father gave him the oath of office. He used the family Bible. He was sworn in at 2:30 in the morning. Coolidge was very shy. His wife, Grace, was very friendly. He did not say many words when people asked .....
