Guadalupe Mountains National Park
By Meg Leonard

1     The Guadalupe Mountains are in Texas. A national park protects part of these mountains. This park is very remote. This means it is far away from cities. Visitors to this park must bring all of the supplies they will need with them. If they are prepared, they will get to see many unique things.

2     A fossilized reef is found here. Millions of years ago, a large tropical ocean covered this land. Tiny animals built a reef along the shoreline of this ocean. The reef was four hundred miles long! When the ocean evaporated, the reef was buried under sand. Years later, uplift caused it to rise above the land. Today scientists from all over the world come to study this reef.
