1     Dwight Eisenhower was our thirty-fourth president. He was born in Texas in 1890. He grew up in Abilene, Kansas. Eisenhower was a good athlete in high school. After high school, he went to West Point. He served in the Army. He led troops during World War II. He was a hero. When World War II was over, Eisenhower became president of Columbia University. He left this job to command NATO forces. NATO is a group of countries that works for peace. Supporters of Eisenhower convinced him to run for president. He won in 1952. Many things happened .....
