1     Laura Welch was born in 1946 in Texas. When she was little, Laura wanted to be a teacher. She went to college. She taught elementary school for a few years. Then she went back to college. She became a school librarian. In 1977, she met George W. Bush. They were married the same year. Laura quit her job as a librarian. She wanted to help George with his career in politics. Four years after they were married, twin girls were born. Their names are Barbara and Jenna. George was elected governor of Texas in 1994. Laura became First Lady of Texas. She worked on issues that were important to her. She focused on early childhood education. She spoke about the importance of reading. George was elected president in 2000. Laura became .....
