Seahorses Are Not Horses That Live in the Sea!
By Erin Horner

1     I have a head that is shaped like a horse's head. I have a tail that curls like a cat's tail. I have eyes that move like a chameleon's eyes. I also have a pouch like a kangaroo. What am I? I am a male seahorse!

2     Seahorses are pretty and mysterious animals. They might not look like fish, but that is exactly what they are! Seahorses swim upright. A large fin on their backs makes this possible. This fin propels them through the water. Small fins on their heads help too. These allow them to steer left or right. A seahorse's tail also helps him swim. When a seahorse wants to drop deeper into the water, he rolls up his tail and sinks. When he wants to rise higher, he uncurls his tail. His nearly straight tail helps him swim straight up!
