1     Shaun White has become a legend in the worlds of snowboarding and skateboarding. Boys and girls alike imagine what it would be like to earn a living riding the boards! What did it take for White to become a superstar? Let's find out.
 
2     Shaun White was the third of three children born to Roger and Cathy White. He came into the world on September 3, 1986, in San Diego, California. A few years later, he started training to become a world-class snowboarder. He just didn't know it at the time!
 
3     Shaun's family was athletic. Roger White had embraced surfing. Cathy White had grown up with parents who made names for themselves in the pro roller derby circuit on the L.A. Bombers and T-Birds. Roger and Cathy White both enjoyed skiing and turned skiing into family fun, driving to Bear Mountain in southern California. Shaun and his older brother Jesse and sister Kari enjoyed surfing and skateboarding.
