1 It was 1998 when the Winter Olympic Games first welcomed snowboarding as an Olympic sport. Nagano, Japan hosted the Olympics that year. Shaun White was only 11 years old; that was too young to take part. He must have been excited to see the sport televised; after all, he had been snowboarding for five years! Two years later, at age 13, Shaun turned pro. |
