1     Pat Nixon was born in Nevada in 1912. Her birth name was Thelma Catherine Ryan. Her father nicknamed her "Pat" just hours after she was born. Pat's mother died when she was 13. Pat had to take care of her father and two brothers. When Pat was 18, her father died. Pat worked many jobs to put herself through college. She graduated with honors. Pat began teaching at a high school. She met Richard Nixon when they were both cast in the same community play. They were married in 1940. The Nixons had two daughters. When Richard entered politics, Pat campaigned with him. Richard was elected to .....
