1 Why do lemons taste sour? Lemons have acids. Acids are sour chemicals. Some are found in your kitchen. Almost everything that tastes sour has acid in it. Lime and lemon juice are acids. Coffee and soft drinks are acids. So are grape, apple, and orange juice. Tomatoes and many other foods have acids. Some acids are used to flavor foods. Sour cream is one of these.
