2     Plants may look very different, but most of them have the same basic parts. Most plants have roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds.
 
3     The roots hold the plant in the soil. They support the plant. Roots absorb water and nutrients from the soil. Roots can also store food for the plant. Carrots and turnips are some roots that we eat.
