Whose Signature Is On Your Dollar Bill?

1 Take a close look at a dollar bill. If it was printed in any of the ten years before 2010, it carries the signature of Anna Escobedo Cabral, Rosario Marin, or Rosa Gumataotao Rios. President Harry S. Truman wanted to appoint a woman to an important political position while he was in office. In 1949, he appointed Georgia Neece Clark as the first woman treasurer. Every treasurer since then has been a woman. Six of the past ten treasurers have also been Hispanic women. The three women listed above were the last three treasurers to hold office through 2009.
