Heather Moyse: Bobsleigh Racer
By Mary Lynn Bushong

1     What does it take to be an international star in two completely different sports? It takes passion, dedication, and drive. Heather Moyse has all of these qualities.

2     Heather was born in Prince Edward Island on July 28, 1978. As part of a sporting family, she played many sports. In high school she was involved in soccer, basketball, and rugby.

3     While attending university, she played rugby. After graduation, she played it for a season in Ireland. Then she moved to do coaching in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. There she established a camp for deaf and hearing impaired children to learn leadership skills through sports.

4     After being out of school for three years, Heather returned to work on her master's degree. While at school, she was recruited to learn the sport of bobsleigh. Heather did so well at testing for the sport that she was approached by two of the drivers (or pilots, as they are also known) to join them.
