Biathlon

1     Caption: Several biathletes in the shooting area.
 
2     The word biathlon means "two tests." Two sports make up this one sport. Cross-country skiing is one. Target shooting is the other. There are ten biathlon events in the Olympics. In each event, athletes must move through the snow quickly. Skiers make stops along the course. Skiers use rifles to shoot at targets. They shoot standing up. They also shoot while lying down on their stomachs. This is called shooting in the prone position. There are a total of five targets they must hit. Depending on their position, the target can be the size of a ping pong ball or a grapefruit. The shooters receive a penalty if they miss a target. .....
