²     What invention could you not live without? A few years ago, a survey asked adults and teens to choose which of five things they "couldn't live without." The choices were the microwave oven, cell phone, personal computer, automobile, and toothbrush. Believe it or not, the toothbrush got the most votes. Nearly half the adults and one-third of the teens said they could not live without a toothbrush.
 
³     I guess when you think about ways people cleaned their teeth before toothbrushes were invented, you might not want to live without your toothbrush, either. Would you want to chew on a stick or bird feather? How about rubbing your teeth with a corncob and salt?
