Teddy Bear Comfort
By Mary Lynn Bushong

Annette ran through the living room and into the kitchen, around the kitchen island, and back out into the living room. "Grandma, I'm flying," said Annette as she giggled.

The young blond girl finally settled on the couch next to her grandmother. "Grandma, I have had such a wonderful day that I don't want it to end," said Annette.

Grandma patted the girl's blond hair and said, "I am glad you are having fun, dear. I think it is time for bed though. Your parents would be very upset with me if I let you miss your regular bedtime. Tomorrow we will have some more fun. Remember, you get to stay with me for the whole week, so we will have plenty of time for more adventures."

Grandma led the young girl down the hallway and into the bedroom. Annette jumped up onto the large bed with the big fluffy pillows and thick down comforter.

"Grandma, this is the first time I have ever been away from home overnight. What if I get scared?"

"You can always come to me. I am just in the bedroom next door," said Grandma. "But do you know what? I think I have a friend who will help you sleep all night long without any fears. I will be right back."

Grandma came back into the bedroom in just a few seconds with an old teddy bear. The brown bear had a pink bow around his neck. "This teddy will help you sleep, my dear. He has helped me sleep since I was just a girl about your age."

"Really, Grandma?" asked Annette. "How can an old teddy bear help you sleep?"
