1 A doily is a pretty mat. It can be made of paper but is often crocheted or knitted and has a delicate pattern. It is often round and used as a decoration. Doilies are usually used inside. They might be under a glass or a lamp. In the winter, if you live where the weather is cold, you might see what looks like dainty doilies dancing in the sky. They come in swirls on the cold winter wind. Maybe Mother Nature is doing "exterior decorating" with them. These small, frozen ice crystals make winter more magical. One creative man took many photographs of these miniscule masterpieces in the nineteenth century. He found a way .....![]() |
