1 The sun shines on Earth's land and water and heats them. At night when the sun is not shining, I hold the day's warmth close to Earth's surface. I keep it from getting too cold at night. I have different layers. Weather happens in my layer next to Earth's surface. I am a mixture of gases. People and animals can live on Earth because part of me is oxygen. Some of my mixture is carbon dioxide. This lets plants grow on Earth because plants need carbon dioxide to live. There is more nitrogen gas in my mixture than any other kind. People don't need it, but more importantly, it doesn't hurt them. Another gas in my mixture is ozone. Ozone protects life .....![]() |
