Beach Erosion
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     Where do you like to go on vacation? Amusement parks are a lot of fun. A camping trip can also be a good way to spend a vacation. A very popular place to spend a holiday is on the beach. Millions of people every year vacation on beaches all over the country. Many people live in homes on the beach or very close to it.

2     All these people on the beach can create problems for beaches. Cars along the beach can create pollution. Careless visitors may leave trash along the beach. One of the biggest threats to beaches isn't man-made, though. Beach erosion washes away large areas of beach land every year.

3     Beach erosion is what happens when sand and rocks are washed off a beach. Sometimes, so much sand is washed away, a beach can disappear. Erosion is a mostly-natural part of the life of a beach.
