¹ Cesar Chavez knew all about the hard life of a farm worker. He knew the deep ache that settles in your back after many hours spent bent over picking crops. He knew what it was like to be a part of a migrant family and move from farm to farm looking for work. As a young boy, he knew what it was like to change schools and be the "new kid" each time his family temporarily settled in a new town. Cesar Chavez also knew that he didn't want other farm workers and their families to experience these harsh realities of farm labor without fair wages. As an adult, Cesar decided to do something about it!

² In 1962, Cesar Chavez started the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA). This union was made up of farm workers who wanted to be treated better. They wanted growers to pay them fair wages for their hours of toilsome labor. Cesar Chavez .....
