1 I am often at your table during meals, but I am not a dinner guest. Today, I can be made out of different kinds of metal, wood, or plastic. A long time ago, I was sometimes made out of shells. My dinner companions, the fork and the knife, are often with me. I am usually placed closer to the knife on the table rather than the fork. The fork is a sharp fellow that usually likes to be alone or with other forks on the other side of the plate. I come in many sizes and serve many purposes.
