MyPlate: The Vegetable Food Group
By Cindy Grigg

1     MyPlate can help me make good food choices. It can help you, too!

2     MyPlate is new. It took the place of the Food Pyramid. I think MyPlate makes it easier to see what I should eat.

3     MyPlate is a symbol. It shows a plate with four parts. One of those parts is for vegetables. Half the plate is full of fruit and vegetables.

4     Kids between the ages of four and eight need one and one-half cups of vegetables every day. Girls between the ages of nine and thirteen need two cups every day. Boys of that age group need a half cup more.
