What Is a Galaxy?

¹     A galaxy is a huge group of stars, gas, and dust. The group is held together by gravity. There may be as many as a trillion stars in one galaxy.

²     A galaxy may be one hundred thousand light years or more across. A light year is the distance that light travels in one year. One light year is about six trillion miles.
