Announcer
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     "Presenting the Oscar for Best Actress is..."

2     "This summer, one man will take on an alien army..."

3     "This cereal is a wholesome part of a nutritious breakfast."

4     It sounds familiar, doesn't it? Professional announcers perform all these lines. Announcers are the people who tell us who is in the next great movie, what band is performing next, and even when to get on a ride at an amusement park.

5     It takes more than an ability to speak to be an announcer. Announcers have to know how to use their voice to create an image in the listener's mind. A voice that might be good for a horror movie might not sound good announcing a children's cartoon. And a voice that sounds good at a country music station would sound silly announcing R&B music.
