Ship in the Mist, Part 2
By Mary Lynn Bushong

It was near the end of their holiday when the weather began to change from the long, clear, hot days to cooler ones. Dad commented on the change as they cooked supper on the barbecue.

"I think we may get some mist rolling in tonight. It may still burn off in the morning."

Brian's bedroom window faced the ocean. He liked to stare out at night and see the reflection of the moon on the water. That night he saw the mist building on the beach and over the rocks.

Neil was almost asleep when Brian rushed over and shook his shoulder.

"Neil, Neil," said Brian with a loud whisper. "You have got to see this!"

Neil grumbled, got up, and looked out the window. "Look at what?" he asked.

"The mist over the rocks. It looks just like an old sailing ship!" said Brian.

"No, it doesn't," grumbled Neil. "It's just mist. Let me get back to sleep."
