Eating Healthy When Eating Out
By Cathy Pearl

1     Eating healthy when you are eating in a restaurant can be very hard. The portion sizes in restaurants are very large. Many of the foods are fried. The size of one serving of a dessert is huge. Believe it or not, there are things that you can do to help you eat healthier when away from home.

2     When you order a salad, you should order the dressing on the side. This gives you control over how much dressing is on your salad. You can put on a lot or a little.

3     Another way to save some calories is to order diet soda or water. Regular soda has many calories and a lot of sugar in it. Ordering a diet drink saves you hundreds of calories before you even start eating.

4     If you want to order an appetizer before eating, see if a friend will share it with you. Sharing it means each of you will eat fewer calories. Or you could order a salad instead of something that is fried.

5     When ordering a meal, don't select French fries as one of your choices. Ask if there are steamed vegetables or a fruit such as applesauce. Either of these choices is much healthier than a starch like French fries.
