Why Families Eat Together
By Jennifer Kenny

Gavin was helping his mother put the groceries away. He had just come home from school and she had just finished the weekly food shopping. Gavin's mother asked him, "How was your day at school?"

"Fine," Gavin said. "How was yours?"

"Great, thank you," Mom replied. "Is there anything new and exciting?"

"Actually, yes," Gavin said. "I heard your name announced to the whole school during afternoon announcements."

"Oh yeah," Mom said. "So I'm famous. That's cool. What exactly did they say?"

Gavin answered, "They said all parents were invited to the PTA meeting tomorrow and that you were the guest speaker. Is that true?"

     Mom said, "Yes, it's true."

"What do you have to say?" Gavin asked.

"I'm going to speak about the importance of family meals," Mom said.
