Turkey - Culture
By Ekaterina Zhdanova-Redman

1     The culture of Turkey is one of the oldest cultures in the world. Humans have lived in the land of Turkey for thousands of years. Many parts of Turkish culture date back to the earliest humans in the world. It is a wonderful and beautiful culture. Arts and crafts are very important to Turkish people. In fact, some of the most beautiful and valuable handmade crafts have been produced in Turkey.

2     Many years ago, those who lived in Turkey were called Ottoman Turks. It was a common belief among Ottoman Turks that every person should be an expert of at least one craft. Partly because of this belief, Turkish crafts are highly developed.

3     Jewelry is among the most important Turkish crafts. For centuries, Turkish people have created some of the most beautiful jewelry on earth. They use many different metals, like gold and silver, and different gemstones. Modern Turkish jewelry making has developed from hundreds of years of Middle Eastern artwork.
