The Butterfly Project

Tom came into the house sweating from baseball practice. After dumping his glove and bat in his room, he went to the kitchen to get a long, cold drink.

"How did your practice go?" asked Mom.

"It went pretty well," he said between gulps. "I was the only one to hit a home run!"

"That's great!" said Mom, changing the subject. "Do you remember how disappointed you were last winter with your science fair project?"

Tom nodded. "That was a real bomb. I came in eighth out of eight entries. I don't want that to happen again."
