Falling Star

1     Vance d'Angelo was off stage, listening to the applause of the spectators. He loved to bask in the glow of their devotion - or maybe it was the heat from the stage lights. Whatever. He was the biggest celebrity to hit the concert trail in a decade. The event was so important that they were broadcasting it on pay-per-view TV! Maybe he was prejudiced, but Vance believed that no other entertainer had ever given a concert of more significance than this one.

2     Vance looked down at his likeness, painted on the body of his guitar. He nodded with satisfaction, stroking the lapel of his coat. The full-length sable coat that he wore had caused his agent some concern.
