Conjunctions


Use a comma before a coordinating conjunction that joins two independent clauses.
(and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet)

Michael stumbled into a hornets' nest, so he had to go to the hospital.
Vasco jumped over the fence to chase a rabbit, and then he saw the bull.
    



Rewrite each sentence using the correct punctuation.
1.  I like going to school but I don't like math class.

2.  John will have to go to summer school or he won't be able to start high school next year.

3.  Betty likes to eat pizza but she likes spaghetti better.

4.  Mom sat down to pay the bills but she realized that she was out of checks.

5.  They wanted to go to Franklin to see the fireworks but they had to work instead.

6.  I wanted to ask my mom a question but she was busy.

7.  We went fishing last Saturday but we didn't catch anything.

8.  The accident was not Jackson's fault nor was it the fault of the other driver.
