1.   Based on what has been found so far, the ratio of fossil floopasaurs to fossil bloopia in Africa is 5 to 1. If this ratio is later discovered to have an error of 30% (too high) for floopasaurs, what would the corrected ratio be?

2.   The lava output from the volcano in crater park has quadrupled over the past 30 days. If the lava output 30 days ago was 5 tons of rock per week, what is the output now?

3.   Soils around the world vary in their organic matter content. Organic matter comes from living things or things that used to be alive. For example, in comparing a soil from Nebraska to one from Arizona, it would not be unusual for the Nebraska soil to have a greater amount of organic matter by a factor of 5 to 2. If you had two such samples and the sample from Arizona contained 6 g of organic matter, how many grams of organic matter would there be in Nebraska soil of equal mass? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

4.   A soil sample from near a factory is analyzed to see if it is polluted. In one test, 19 g of soil was dried to remove water. After drying, 77% of the original mass remained. An elemental analysis was performed and the soil was found to be 26% carbon, 22% oxygen, 14% hydrogen, and the rest was ash. Ash contains minerals and other difficult to decompose matter. Assuming all the ash was the result of soil minerals, how many grams of minerals was in the original soil sample? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.
