The Mysterious Thingamajig
By Joyce Furstenau

Moose found the mysterious thingamajig sitting beside a stump in the meadow. He looked closer. Moose moved his magnificent antlers up and down. He moved them back and forth.

"It's magic," said Moose. "I have never seen anything like it." Minutes later, Mouse appeared near the stump.

     "What's magic?" asked Mouse.

"I think this mysterious thingamajig is magic," answered Moose.

Mouse crept up to the stump to take a peek. She took one look and made a face. She peeked at it again, and then she jumped down. "Amazing," said Mouse. Magnificent! It is quite marvelous. What is it?" asked Mouse.

"I wish I knew," answered Moose. "Let's ask Mole. He sees things quite differently." Mouse and Moose called down to Mole.

"Hello, Mole! Come and see what we have found!" they shouted. Mole put on his glasses and peeked out of his hole.

     "What is it?" asked Mole.

"Come up and see it, Mole. It's a...a... thingamajig," stammered Moose. "We wanted you to take a look. We don't know what it is. It is a mystery."
