A Not So Amusing Amusement Park
By Beth Beutler

1     It was becoming dark. Very dark. It was October, and the theme park changed after dark. Each Friday and Saturday night in October, it became Scare Park.

2     Jordan had never been to Scare Park before. He was very excited. He was also nervous (a little). But he wouldn't show it. Not during this first time at the park with his teenaged older brother, Brian. No siree.

3     Brian and Jordan paid at the ticket window. Brian turned and put a fluorescent wrist band on Jordan. Then they headed toward the entrance gate, which was decorated with pictures of jack-o-lanterns and black cats.

4     "Okay, buddy," Brian instructed, "you stay near me at all times. This is Scare Park, and you never know what may happen."
