Little Rhody's State Drink

1     Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but it is the only place in the world where you can get coffee milk. Even if you visit Rhode Island's nearby states, coffee milk will not be found. You may even be wondering, "What is coffee milk?" It is a lot like chocolate milk but with coffee flavored syrup.
 
2     In the 1930's, coffee milk was introduced to Rhode Islanders. A creative diner owner sweetened milk with leftover coffee grounds and sugar. This created a molasses-like extract that became popular. Coffee milk became a favorite among Rhode Islanders and created a demand for this coffee syrup. The first coffee syrup available for sale was a Warwick-based brand called Eclipse. Autocrat Coffee Syrup soon followed.
