Indonesia - Geography
By Ekaterina Zhdanova-Redman

1     Think of the prettiest place you've ever been. Is it near where you live? Maybe it's a beach. Or maybe it's someplace in the woods, or high in the mountains. Maybe it's someplace that's pretty to you and no one else. To many people, Indonesia is the prettiest place in the world.

2     The country of Indonesia is actually a group of islands. These islands are in the southeastern Indian Ocean. A group of islands is known by a funny name. It is called an archipelago. The Indonesian archipelago is made up of thousands of islands. Some islands are big and some are very small. Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, is on the island of Java. This island is one of the biggest in Indonesia.

3     An island is a piece of land surrounded on all sides by water. So that means that islands have lots of beaches, of course! Indonesia is famous for its beaches. Its beaches are known around the world for their beauty. Some would say that Indonesia is like heaven.
