The Mule in Miss Brock's Classroom

Miss Brock came into her classroom and jumped back. "There's a mule in my class! How did it get there? How could this be?" she thought. She wondered if it was somebody's pet that they brought for show and tell.

The mule stood quietly by Miss Brock's stool. He watched the kids run into school. All of them were surprised to see this. There had never been an animal in class before!

Miss Brock tried to get it to go outside. But the mule sank into a chair. Now he was snug and actually stuck!

"What will we do?!" thought Miss Brock. She felt like going back home to sleep. Maybe this was all a dream.

Miss Brock did her best to start class. The mule actually listened. He learned to count to six. At lunch, he drank some milk with the kids. They wanted him to play with them at recess. They worked hard to get him out of the chair. They put a soft bicycle tire tube around his neck and pulled him out. They had fun on the playground. He gave them rides on his back.
