Happy Campers
By Beth Beutler

1     Neither Spunky nor Sparky had ever been taken on a family vacation. The dog and cat were frequently left in the care of Mr. Rabash, a neighbor. Mr. Rabash was nice enough, but Spunky and Sparky always missed their family greatly. Mr. Rabash would only check on them about once a day. He would give them food and water and bring in the paper. However, he wasn't used to having a dog or cat and didn't realize how they liked to play. So this time, when the Williams family was planning vacation, Spunky and Sparky figured everything would be the same.
2     "I suppose they are going to the beach again," Spunky (the cat) said to Sparky (the dog.)
3     Sparky yawned. "Yes. I imagine we'll be stuck with Mr. Rabash again."
4     "Yep, another week of boredom. Guess I'll spend most of the time asleep, like last year," Spunky replied.
5     A week went by, and the Williams family spent a lot of it doing their "pre-vacation" thing. They packed, shopped, looked at maps, got out the suntan oil, and just about went crazy.
