Commas in a Series


Sometimes, one item in a series can be composed of multiple words.
Use commas only between whole items in a series.

We sold twenty books, fifteen cups, and nineteen plates at our garage sale.
She decided not to give away her red hat, her umbrella, or her jacket.
    



Rewrite each sentence using the correct punctuation.
1.  Our school is raising money for new computers updated software and a portable computer lab.

2.  Mom took potato salad fried chicken and lemon pie to the picnic.

3.  I have read Lord of the Rings Shiloh and Onion John.

4.  We went to the Washington Monument the Lincoln Memorial and the White House.
