 2 Grandfather waters his flowers several times a day. He watered them three times yesterday and five times today. How many times have the flowers been watered in the past two days?
 3 My grandfather raises sheep. He has thirty-six sheep in his flock. There are twenty-three white sheep and the rest are black. How many black sheep are there?
 4 Each day I cross the street to get to my barn. I have twenty-four chickens and five horses. How many animals do I have in all?
 5 An owl was looking in many different directions. The owl saw five mice on one side of him, nine small rabbits on the other, and fourteen moles in front of him. How many potential snacks did he see?
 6 Samuel lives in Mansfield, a small town with a total population of ninety-six people. There are twenty-two children, just as many dogs, and a barn on every piece of property. How many adults live in Mansfield?
