 3 Kyle was practicing basketball and made thirty-six attempts. He was able to make twenty-two baskets. How many did he miss?
 4 A whale shot water through its blowhole five times and then four times. How many times did it blow?
 5 While trying to reach his hay, the horse stepped on some bugs. He stepped on thirty-two ants, twelve doodlebugs, and three spiders. How many bugs were stepped on in all?
 6 At the trainer's click, the whale jumped out of the pool and got fourteen people soaked. There were eighty-nine people watching. How many did not smell like seawater?
