1.   Tyler Jefferson is running for governor. Some of his friends are going to have a benefit dinner for him. A ticket to the dinner costs $52.00. Four hundred twelve people have purchased tickets. How much money will the dinner raise for Mr. Jefferson's campaign fund?




2.   Mrs. Smith has to calculate the number of students in her class so she could make sure that she has enough reading books in her crate. There are four rows of chairs with eight chairs in each row in the classroom. There are five empty chairs. How many students does Mrs. Smith have in her class?




3.   Our teacher told us a story about three families who were having a feud. The dispute was over which family owned the four wild hound dogs that wandered in the woods. Half of the Marks family said the dogs belonged to the Smiths family. One-fourth of the Marks family said the dogs belonged to the Jacks family. The rest of the Marks family said, "What dogs?" There are 32 people in the Marks family. How many of them said "What dogs"?




4.   Julia and Joseph had a dispute over who earned the most allowance last week. Julia earned $6.39 for mowing the lawn and $10.85 for her other chores. Joseph earned $8.09 for helping Dad to trim the trees and $12.74 for the rest of his chores. How much more did Joseph earn?




5.   Daniel, Dylan, and Timothy are called the Terrible Trio because they are always getting in trouble together. My father said they are just wild. One Halloween they bought a crate of fireworks and scared all the animals on our avenue with the noise. There were twelve packs in the crate. Each pack had forty-eight firecrackers in it. How many firecrackers were in the crate?




6.   A new library and a new auditorium are being built in our capital. The workmen have been very busy. They have already been at work for seventy-eight days. The cost of the library will be $2,250,000.00. The state legislature approved $4,490,000.00 to build the library and the auditorium. How much money was set aside for the auditorium?
