4.   There was frost on my window when I got up this morning. The weatherman on television said it was negative four degrees Celsius outside. It is warmer inside. The thermometer says it is twenty-two degrees Celsius inside. How many degrees colder is it outside?




5.   Kaylee has grown two inches taller and has gained eleven pounds since last winter. She needs new winter clothes. Her mother bought a jacket ($70.04), gloves ($8.02), eight sweaters ($18.31 each), a pair of boots ($28.97), and a scarf ($8.38). While they were at the mall, she also had her hair cut. The haircut cost $18.86. How much money was spent on Kaylee's new winter clothes?




6.   There are thirty-six students in Miss Lyon's class. Half of them have red jackets. One-ninth of them have blue jackets. How many of her students have jackets that are not red or blue?
