What is Terrorism?
By Jane Runyon

1     If you have heard any news on television, you might be confused. People on the news might use words like terrorists and terrorism. If you have heard adults talking about terrorists, you might not know what they were talking about. You probably don't know what these words mean. Let's see if we can understand what they are talking about.

2     Have you ever walked by a neighbor's house and heard a dog barking loudly? Did hearing that dog make you want to get away quickly? Perhaps the barking scared you. That loud dog made you stay away from it.

3     Have you ever been in a "haunted house" at Halloween? Did something jump out and scare you? Did you want to make friends with the "monster" in the house? Of course, you didn't.
